Description
The enchanting Ballet Folklórico de México returns to the Lensic for an evening of brilliant dance, music, and spirit.
Amalia Hernández founded the company in 1952, which has since become recognized as a cultural touchstone in Mexico. From a very young age, Hernández began a journey through Mexican culture that would lead her to rescue the country’s traditional dances. She has shown the world the beauty of Mexico through movement, from pre-Columbian cultures and Spanish influences to the revolutionary times.
With more than 30 million spectators and countless recognitions, Amalia Hernández's artistic legacy remains intact thanks to the company's 120+ original choreographies with great technical difficulty, elaborate typical costumes, and first-rate artists.
